Do you have a passion for assisting others? In the Behavioral Health Technician Program, you will learn how to provide direct care and support to individuals with mental health conditions or developmental disabilities. Behavioral Health Technicians work alongside nurses, therapists, and physicians to provide safe and compassionate patient care.
This 202-hour course (8 weeks) includes classroom theory (105 hours), skills training (40 hours), and clinical experience (57 hours). The program is designed to prepare students for a basic Behavioral Health Technician certificate by building the essential skills outlined in the training objectives. Midwest Career Source is now a Certified Nurse Assistant / Behavioral Health Technician Apprenticeship Program through the U.S. Department of Labor.
This program trains individuals to provide patient care and support the nursing team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The curriculum follows the Illinois Department of Public Health program model and combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experience.
Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to sit for the Illinois State Examination as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), along with earning a Certificate as a Behavioral Health Technician.
